Minutes of Eastwood CC committee meeting, 7th June 2011

Present: Kevin Robinson, Neil Mason, Richard Ackery, Alaric Wade, Trevor Harp, Dan Fullarton, Graham Fletcher, Brian Burns

Action points from last meeting

Captains have been given admin rights to the website.

Stuart Orrock has run an umpiring / scoring course. Unfortunately the turnout was poor with only 4 or 5 kids.

The newsletter has been written.

AP1: Trevor to ask Olli to forward the newsletter to someone who can print it

AP2: Al to identify all results from 2010 and 2011 which aren’t on the web, and ask captains to put them on

The social committee has met and the minutes are on the website.

Cricket week

– fixtures for Monday to Thursday are arranged; but we need to confirm Friday – the plan is to have a 20/20 tournament, the same as last year

AP3: Kevin to confirm with the hockey club that they will put a team in

We discussed the possibility of getting sponsorship for an advertising banner to go up on the balcony during games – any cash from this could be used to buy much needed fencing.

AP4: Kevin to raise this with BSSC to ensure they are happy with the idea

AP5: (depending on 4) Kevin to talk to Andy Young re practicalities

Playing numbers

– we have a lot fewer kids coming through than in previous years so we need to advertise for players. It would be good if we could build bridges with local schools e.g. Eastwood and Belfairs

AP6: Graham to get leaflets printed to distribute round schools

Awards from last year

– details are now on the website

AP7: Dan to chase up the missing shields, get them engraved and give them to the winners

We discussed the state of the outfield; the council can’t do anything now but have agreed to sort it out in September.

Loans & grants

– we are still in the process of trying to get a loan from the ECB. The cost of the nets, flex pitch and bowling machine will be £5100; the grant should give us 75%+ of this which will give us a shortfall of about £1000. Options were discussed on how we could fill this – including asking members if they would be willing to loan money to the club to be offset against match fees. Club funds may be able to fill the gap, but it depends on the timing of the payments. No decision made yet.

Press reports

– other local clubs have their games reported in the Echo; we can get our in if we get the results on the web on time (by Monday – the results need to be with the Echo by Tuesday morning). Ian Roake has a contact at the Echo who we could send results to.

Clubmark

– we need to get paper registration forms out to people.

AP8: Graham to bring forms to the club on Saturday and hand them out to relevant people

Date of next meeting – Friday 24th June, 8pm, location tba.
