I am looking to gauge numbers with the aim to restore Sunday cricket to the club. As you know, last season we had a number of weeks where we had enough numbers for 5 teams, however it was difficult to always obtain a 5th fixture. This meant some members missed out on a game over the weekend. This season we aim to correct this by introducing a 5th XI and Sunday XI.
While not trying to fulfil a full seasons fixture list, it is hoped we will have enough players available to play a number of games on a Sunday. We will be looking to build a team/squad from new so will be looking for weak, medium/weak games in the local area.
There is a considerable cost in hosting home games, pitch hire, clubhouse operating costs that at first we may have to look for local away games, no further than 30 minutes drive from the clubhouse.
This is where I need your help to understand possible numbers. I have entered TBC fixtures during the 2014 season on most Sundays. If you want/interested in playing cricket on the Sunday, please update your availability. From this we can look to source fixtures. If you have any interested friends who might play or you currently play for a Sunday team and they do not have a fixture for a weekend and you can play for us, please let me know. It is not a commitment for every Sunday but I will be looking for ad hoc games dependant on numbers.
