Eastwood Cricket Club News story

July 2024 update....

08 Jul 2024

Hi all,

We are now over half way through season and all three league teams are in striking distance of the top 2 of their divisions. Also, thanks to the excellent availability, we have had the great chance for our youth section to play adult cricket by fielding a fourth team in friendlies. This can only benefit the club in the long run so big thank you to everyone who has played so far...

Congratulations to Evening League side for beating ACs for a second time this season ... this is unheard for ACs to lose one match let alone for Eastwood to do the double.

Keep up the fight and hopefully we will have some success to celebrate at end of season awards... we’ll share date shortly.

Please remember to keep you availability updated on the website as this helps the Team Secretary get the teams out on time.

Few reminders

i) Note to ask all players at home to show up for 12:15 to help set up and please stay around afterwards to tidy up. If you can not make either 12:15 or have to leave before match ends then please make the effort the start or end of match.

ii) All players should support the captains by offering to Umpire or Score. if anyone does not know either skill there are ECB courses.
This is the scoring on which is online -
England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) - The Official Website of the ECB
Or for Umpiring check out same website. There is always a course going on within Essex region, or if enough members are interested we can potentially organise our own session.

iii) Debts - again please remember you need to pay your subscriptions and match fees. The club bank

ECB Clubmark

After a hiatus of 5 years we have regained our ECB Clubmark. This shows the club is compliant, well run and fits within the aims of the ECB. Our hope is that we can use to gain grant funding in the next couple of years.

Thanks and regards
