December 2024 Newsletter

29 Dec 2024

A word from the President!

I think the main thing to take from 2024 is perhaps a feeling of new beginnings.  Due to the hard work and dedication by our Committee members we have been able to put a Fourth XI out in no less than 13 weeks this summer!

There was also the hard work put in by the Captains and of course every player who represented us this year.  Many excellent performances on the pitch led to 30 league wins across the three sides.  The new fourth team even tasted victories!

Off the field, it’s been great to see so many members at the Presentation Evening and the Christmas drinks.

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!

See you all soon,

Boycey x

Winter Nets

As we move into the New Year, and we get closer to the start of the 2025 season, we have finally confirmed that winter nets will once again be held at Southend High School for Boys, starting on Monday 6th January and running every Monday until April (excluding school holidays).  Youth coaching will begin at 18:30, while senior nets will be from 19:30.

If you’re keen to dust off the winter cobwebs please feel free to join us!  All members welcome.  Similarly, if you know of anyone who wishes to try out the game for the first time, or is keen to get back into cricket, why not bring them along too?

2025 Annual General Meeting

Notice is hereby given for your attendance at the Eastwood CC AGM, which will be held on Friday 17th January 2025 at Belfairs Sports and Social Club.

Please arrive by 19:00 for a 19:30 prompt start.

We will be electing members to various roles on the Committee, Sub-Committees and Captains.  If you are interested in taking up any of these posts, or would like to find out any information as to what is available, please seek out a member of the Committee asap.  Similarly, if you have any specific agenda items you wish to raise on the evening, please contact Tim Ward.

Youth Section

In our last newsletter we asked for we asked for members to contact Kevin Robinson if they were willing to help him with managing the Youth Setup.  Kevin has advised that we have received responses from a number of members, which is fantastic!  Thank you to everyone who has done so!  If anyone else would like to put their name forward, or find out more information about helping with the Youth Teams, please contact Kevin directly on 07775 944855.

1st  -  Steve Huckstepp (£78:75)

2nd  -  Cameron Hill (£47:25)

2nd  -  Dan Wooler (£47:25)

Another £315:00 raised for the Club, in December!

The 100 Club is a lottery, with three monthly cash prizes on offer.  It helps to raise valuable funds for the Club, helping us to keep our subs and match fees as low as possible!

All members, family and friends are welcome to join the 100 Club at £5 per number (have as many numbers as you like!).  If you are interested, please contact Steve Huckstepp on 07825 059673.
