Present: Graham Fletcher, Al Wade, Kevin Robinson, Richard Ackery, Trevor Harp, Neil Mason, Dan Fullarton, Paul Heath, Brian Burns
Apologies: John Mitchell, Mike Dineen, James Drabble
Cricket Force Day
Agreed this would be22nd April (Good Friday). We need to get a list together of the jobs that need doing. Will include painting the sightscreens, checking nuts & bolts etc, painting balcony floor
Grants
We have applied for grants to Ford, Mars & Cash for Clubs but been declined as they are oversubscribed. We have a quote for nets and some possible sources to get money for new sightscreens.
Clubmark
We need to reapply for Clubmark this year. There are a few things we need to tighten up on; we haven’t done any newsletters; the website isn’t up to date.
AP1 (all): Let Olli know any ideas for the newsletter
AP2 (Al): find out which games from last year don’t have details on the website.
Belfairs Sports & Social Club Update
BSSC are skint and are likely to ask us for money this year. There have been a few good functions recently which have helped but cash is still short.
Forthcoming events
Quiz night 1st April
Drink & curry with Darren Hawkins 9th April
AP3: Social committee to meet & discuss ideas for events this year
The presentation night went well but it was agreed that this year we should hold it at the end of the season. Date agreed Friday 30th September.
Dan will investigate the possibility of getting a darts team together.
It was suggested that we could hold a ‘club night’ every Thursday when the bar will be open and members from all three clubs could come up for a drink.
Cricket Week
Fixtures for Monday to Thursday have been arranged (Mallards, South Loughton, Laconics & Belhus). We agreed to try to hold the triangular 20/20 again on Friday with Rams and the hockey club.
AP4 (Kevin): contact hockey club and see if they are up for it
AP5 (Richard): same with Rams
Clubwear
Club clothing is still available from Warsops at the same prices as last year and we can order this online. Neil and Trevor agreed to organise buying some club shirts etc. Orders need to be in fairly soon to be ready for the start of the season as there is a 4 week wait.
Youth cricket
We need to recruit some new players. It was suggested we could put a banner up at the clubhouse to advertise the club.
AP6 (Kevin): contact the council to see if they would be happy with this
We could do with some more coaches. It anyone is interested Kevin will talk them through the process.
Youth training will be at Belfairs this summer instead of Southend High.
League issues, captains etc
Hockley 3s have pulled out of the league and been replaced by Navestock 2s.
We agreed to run team selection for Eastwood the same way as last year. We need to make sure captains have admin rights for the website.
AP7 (Neil): arrange this
Contact details – the club has a Facebook page but it needs updating. As part of Clubmark we need to use contact forms for members containing their details. Fletch and Neil have a form which enables us to pay subs online – this will be embedded in the website.
AOB
Fletch is trying to arrange fixtures for the tour – he needs a £60 deposit asap from those interested in going.
AP8 (Dan): email Stuart Orrock re running some umpiring / scoring courses
AP9 (Dan/Neil): Dan to email Neil a list of who received awards; Neil to put these on the website
The possibility of getting a sponsor was suggested – we need to find someone to lobby local companies.
Date of next meeting – Tuesday 24th May.
